In Wolnzach, a small town in the hop-growing region of Hallertau, about 60 km north of Munich, the company A.S.T. Angewandte System Technik was founded in 1974 with initially 3 employees. Its goal was the development and production of energy-saving preheating and precooling systems for rail vehicles using the then-new microprocessor technology. This very advanced approach at the time was successful, and A.S.T. has since become a market leader in this field. As early as 1994, A.S.T. was certified according to DIN ISO 9001, and it has been a Q1 supplier to Deutsche Bahn for many years. The company philosophy of offering customized systems and complete solutions from a single source has driven the development of a wide variety of devices. This led to the establishment of new company locations in Berlin and Dresden.
