The roots of our company lie in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. There, entrepreneur Karl Klein, father of two sons, operated the Ludwigshafener Isolierfabrik K.G. in Ludwigshafen-Mundenheim. In 1932, his son Willi Klein took over the management of the August Kaege lime works in Harxheim/Zellertal. In 1959, he founded Willi Klein, Dämmstoffe, as a vermiculite expansion business. This also marked the foundation of the present-day company. In 1961, the August Kaege Nachf. lime works was closed. Willi Klein passed away in 1975, and since then, the company has been run by his son Friedhelm Klein. In 1979, production was expanded with the establishment of a perlite expansion plant. In the same year, Dämmstoff-Fabrik Klein GmbH was founded. In 1985, the production of "Kawalite" molded parts commenced. In 1996, new developments in the field of preventive structural fire protection followed ("Hapuflam fire protection systems"). Based on this, another company was established: HaPu-Brandschutzsysteme GmbH. In 2010, product and production expansion occurred with the acquisition of the cable sealing system "Staudt".
