The company Stempel-Schmidt was founded in 1934 by Emil Schmidt as an engraving and stamp manufacturing business. At that time, the production facilities were located on Kleberstraße in Bamberg. In 1976, his son Gerhard Schmidt took over the business and simultaneously moved to Marienplatz 7, where a retail store was also established. In 1998, the business was taken over by Thomas Gleixner, a master flexographer and founder of 'Stempelwerkstatt' in the Upper Palatinate. The master and training company currently employs one full-time staff member and temporary workers.
